FAQ
How do I register for Future STARS! Soccer Programs?
Registration is conducted electronically via our website and typically opens 2-3 weeks in advance of the session start date. Registration fees are accepted through Pay Pal.
Receipts are provided for all registration fees received. Future STARS! Soccer registration fees are eligible deductions under the Children’s Fitness Tax Credit program.
Registration in each session is limited and is accepted on a first paid, first registered basis. Registration without payment is not accepted. Future STARS! reserves the right to combine, reschedule, cancel or otherwise change programs depending on weather, facility availability or as it deems appropriate.
When are Future STARS! sessions offered?
Future STARS! Soccer offers programs year round during both indoor and outdoor soccer seasons. Three – 8 week sessions are run annually on the following general calendar:
• Winter Session – January to March
• Spring Session – April – June
• Fall Session – Late August – October
How is Future STARS! different than other ‘League Based’ soccer programs?
Future STARS! Soccer is a skill based program designed around the developmental abilities of its participants and the Active Start Stage presented by Sport Canada’s Long-Term Athlete Development Model. Details about LTAD can be found www.ltad.ca.
Unlike some other programs where 8-10 preschoolers might be thrown into a game and left to fight over a single ball, each Future STAR spends the majority of each soccer session with their own ball. Activities focus on fundamental soccer skills but also concentrate on improving basic movement skills (running, jumping, twisting, etc.) which are the building blocks for all athletic participation and physical fitness. Individual participation and touches on the ball are maximized in sessions conducted around a theme intended to engage the STARS’ imagination at the same time.
At the Quasars level, Future STARS! also requires parental participation in each soccer practice. Beyond the obvious advantages in managing and engaging the STARS! with one-on-one coaching supported by the Future STARS! instructors, the specific inclusion of parents offers an immediate, ongoing and positive role model to frame the STARS! view of an active lifestyle.
Can I register a child who is not 3 years old yet?
Generally speaking, our coaches have found that age 3.5 years is usually the best time to start with Future STARS! Soccer. Often, children just 3 or not yet 3 are simply not ready to fully participate and get the most out of Future STARS! That said, because the youngest level (Quasars!) directly involves the parents, Future STARS! will accept registrations at the parents’ discretion. Please call for specific advice about this issue.
